“Ocean’s 8” opened with $41.5 million at the US-Canada box office over the weekend, topping industry expectations and delivering the largest opening within the franchise (not adjusted for inflation). The movie cost at least $150 million to make and market worldwide, “Solo: A Star War’s Story” came in second with $15.2 million, “Deadpool 2” was third with $13.7 million, as “Hereditary” came in fourth with an even $13 million, smashing expectations and even outperforming a lofty, pre-weekend forecast to finish within the top five. Unfortunately, “Hotel Artemis”, the weekend’s third new wide release, struggled to find an opening weekend audience, well down in eighth place with only $3.2 million. (so not good news for the cast of “Hotel Artemis”, including Jodie Foster and Jeff Goldblum)
Netflix on Sunday gave us the first look at Josh Groban and Tony Danza’s upcoming comedy The Good Cop. Groban and Danza are a father and son who couldn’t be more different, except for the fact they are both cops named Tony. The 10-episode first season will be released September 21st.
