Wacky… But True, November 21st

The surprisingly powerful winter storm that swept across Pennsylvania brought some surprising sights with it, including a camel stranded along a snowy roadway. Motorists traveling north of Philadelphia spotted the camel last week and posted video on social media. The organization, Jewish Philly, says it was their camel named Einstein. He was on his way to the group’s event at Philadelphia’s Kimmel Center when the vehicle he was traveling in got stuck. Jewish Philly say Einstein’s handler decided it was best for the camel to head home after his snow adventures, so he returned to Peaceable Kingdom Petting Zoo. Things didn’t have a happy ending after a homeless Australian man shot to fame after using a shopping trolley to help police thwart last week’s militant attack in Melbourne. Michael Rogers was hailed as a hero and dubbed “Trolleyman” on social media after trying to subdue a knife-wielding man with a trolley. Rogers’ sudden fame also led to 140,000 Australian dollars ($100,000) being raised for him in an online funding drive. Unfortunately, his time in the spotlight has gotten him served with five burglary charges . Rogers turned himself in last Friday night, saying he was keen to do the right thing. The money raised for him will be held in a trust fund, and that an accountancy firm has offered to oversee it and give financial advice. No word if a lawyer has offered legal advice.
