Wacky… But True, May 24th

Six young squirrels whose tails were stuck together by tree sap are recovering after a Nebraska wildlife expert untangled them. The sap-covered tails that are are about 8 weeks old became knotted as the youngsters wrestled in their nest. Resident Craig Luttman spotted the rodents’ predicament, describing it last week as “kind of like a tug of war, going in completely opposite directions.” The squirrels were given a mild painkiller before removing the sticky fur and untangling them. Some of them suffered injuries to their tails, but they’re expected to be released in a few weeks. (Source and Image: abcnews.go.com)

And South Carolina’s most talented escape artist may be a kangaroo. The McCormick County Sheriff’s Office said last week that a mischievous marsupial was roaming the county for the second time in three days. Maj. Robert Christie says authorities have yet to discern how it escaped from its owner, but it’s likely the kangaroo found a weak spot in the fence or a gate left open. Its owner who is licensed to keep the kangaroo was able to corral the animal after being notified of the first escape… which, last word, remains on the loose. (Source: abcnews.go.com)
