An organization that ships care packages to troops serving overseas has hit a milestone. Volunteers with Operation Support Our Troops America, based in a suburb of Chicago (Lisle), Illinois) have packed their 2 millionth pound of care-package items. Deb Rickert started the organization 16 years ago when her two sons were deployed… and it’s still going strong.
If you happened to have misplaced a USB drive on the southern tip of New Zealand’s South Island, scientists from the country’s National Institute of Water and Atmospheric Research are looking for you. It was found in the poop of a leopard seal, which had been sitting in one of their freezers since November 2017. Three weeks ago, volunteers pulled out the sample for researchers to study. Inside the poop, they found a USB drive which still worked. The drive contained photos of sea lions, and a video of someone kayaking, with a seal bobbing around in the background. “If it’s yours and you want the USB stick back, it comes with a price.
