Agriculture officials in Louisiana presented a couple with a Guinness World Records certificate after their 7-pound, 14.64-ounce grapefruit was confirmed as the heaviest and largest in the world. The Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry presented Mary Beth and Doug Meyer of Slidell with the certificate Sunday. Their grapefruit, which measures 28.75 inches in circumference, was confirmed as larger than the previous record holder, a grapefruit weighing 7 pounds, 1 ounce and measuring 27.5 inches in circumference.
In the ultimate buying-in-bulk move, Costco is selling a massive wheel of cheese for the hefty price of $900. The wheel, sold under the name Kirkland Signature Whole Wheel Parmigiano Reggiano, weighs a whopping 72 pounds (over 32 kilograms). The wheel is imported from Italy and made with fresh milk from the Parma and Reggio Emilio provinces in Italy, according to Costco’swebsite. Priced out, the cheese will run you $12.50 per pound, with shipping and handling included. Shipping takes two to three days, and the wheel can only be ordered on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays to avoid weekend spoilage.
