On April 16, 2017 just after 2 a.m., Grey County OPP conducted a traffic stop on a 2006 Ford Mustang on Grey Rd. 4, east of Sideroad 10, within the Municipality of West Grey, after it had overtaken the cruiser. Both vehicles were travelling westbound.
Police detected an odour of alcohol inside the vehicle which was occupied by the driver and a sleeping passenger. The driver advised the officer that he was the designated driver. The driver registered a “fail” on the roadside approved breath screening device and was subsequently transported to the Markdale OPP Detachment for further breath tests which indicated his blood alcohol content was over 80 milligrams.
The 29-year old male, of Toronto, was charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle and driving with more than 80 milligrams of alcohol in his system.
He is scheduled to appear in Owen Sound Court on May 18, 2017.
