Two separate drivers ended up colliding with construction materials after ignoring road closure signs on 8th Street East in Owen Sound Monday. While neither driver was seriously injured, Police are reporting that the same can’t be said for their vehicles, which both sustained extensive damage as a result of the incidents.
The first collision occurred around 8:30 p.m. on September 11, 2017, when Owen Sound Police say a 56-year old woman was taken to Grey Bruce Health Service after her airbags went off as a result of her car striking construction materials. She was treated for minor injuries and later released.
The second took place just under three hours later, when an 89-year old man drove his car into a large pile of gravel. Neither he, nor his passenger, were injured.
Both drivers will be charged with offenses under the Highway Traffic Act. Owen Sound Police Service is reminding drivers to always obey road closure signs, no matter how much of an inconvenience they may be to your route.
