Town of Collingwood Asks Residents to Help Clear Fire Hydrants

Fire hydrants are important for everyone’s protection and safety, and accessible fire hydrants can help save valuable minutes in an emergency. The Town of Collingwood encourages residents to clear snow around fire hydrants located on or near their property.

The Water Department works to clear around hydrants with backhoes and shovels, but with significant snowfall, there are many buried hydrants. Snow blowers may be throwing snow onto hydrants, making them harder to access

If you are clearing your driveway or walkway, check and clear your hydrant. It takes only a few minutes to clear the snow – at least 3ft around and a clear path to the street.
