Taking the ‘Long’ Way Home

And my drive home yesterday, one of those days I didn’t feel like sitting waiting to get through a one-lane stretch of Highway 26 near Wasaga Beach, so I detoured north on County Road 10, then across the 12th of Sunnidale til it became the 4th Line of Flos Township (you may not know where that is), but if you’re like me, I enjoy driving through the backroads from time to time. One of my favourite sights on County Road 10 was, oh, about half a dozen grazing donkeys with some goats… a few more donkeys I passed near the road in Flos Township (you know I think if I won the lottery, I’d buy a little farm and get me some donkeys).

And the last few weeks, seeing, on my drive home, once past our beautiful apple orchards here, of course, not only the corn getting to be a nice height, but also, some fields here and there with oats, some mustard, some hay that’s being harvested already and yesterday, a farmer taking a wagon of cabbage down the sideroad and some of his field hands farther down the road, taking in more cabbage from the field, so definitely that time of year upon us.
