OPP Detachment In Collingwood Has Parking Spaces To Safely Exchange Online Purchases

The Collingwood and The Blue Mountains OPP has launched an online buy and sell exchange zone at the Collingwood OPP detachment in an effort to make online transactions safer for buyers and sellers.

The purpose of Project Safe Trade is to create a ‘community safe zone’ at an OPP detachment parking lot in which to facilitate online property transactions. Creating a “community safe zone” is about moving online transactions away from secluded parking lots, personal residences or other areas and bringing them to a public place.

We are inviting members of the public to use the OPP ‘safe trade’ designated parking spaces at our detachment. These safe trade parking spaces are available at all times with no appointment necessary. The OPP does not monitor or mediate the use of these premises for these purposes.

For more information visit www.OPP.ca and search Project Safe Trade.

Online transaction safety tips:

  • Meet in a busy public place
  • Bring a trusted friend or family member along as a witness
  • Keep transactions to daylight hours
  • Do not erase emails, texts or voicemails between yourself and the seller/buyer
