Friday September 21st, just after 8:00 p.m. Wasaga Beach fire crews responded to the Travel Lodge (formally the Donato House) located at 1080 Mosley St. Fire crews from Clearview and Collingwood were also brought in to assist. Firefighters were able to contain the fire to one end of the hotel. No one was injured in the blaze. The Fire Marshal has been called in to investigate the fire. (Source: muskoka411.com)

The first meeting organized by the Chamber will be held Wednesday, September 26th at 6:30 pm at the Meaford United Church for those candidates seeking a seat as a Councillor for the Municipality of Meaford. In the event of a strike by Canada Post, the voter notification letters for the Municipality of Meaford are being mailed out. Each registered voter will receive a personalized voter notification letter that contains your voter ID and unique pin number, and some personal information such as your name and address, as well as information on the voting methods, as well as a list of the candidates. The voting period will begin on October 12th at 10:00 a.m., ending at 8:00 p.m., Monday, October 22nd. Simply access the website or call the phone number included in your letter, and use your voter ID and PIN to vote securely from anywhere by phone or online. You will also have access to Voter Help Centres during the 11-day voting period for assistance voting or access to a computer. Colorado beat Arizona 2-0 for a three-game sweep that kept the Rockies 1 1/2 games behind St. Louis for the NL’s second wild card with one week remaining in the regular season.
With one out and the bases loaded in the 11th inning, Cleveland defeated the Red Sox 4-3 to deny Boston’s bid for a club-record 106th victory for the second straight game.
The New York Yankees’ wasted a three-run lead in a 6-3 loss to Baltimore.
Texas rallied for four runs in the sixth inning to beat Seattle 6-1.
