Collingwood and The Blue Mountains OPP Auxiliary Members would like to thank the community for their generous donations to help stuff backpacks with school supplies.
Officers collected enough supplies to stuff 81 backpacks that were also donated. All the backpacks have been delivered to Collingwood and The Blue Mountains schools who in turn will distribute them to at-risk youth in their schools. (Source: muskoka411.com)

Professional, safe driving skills will be on display at the Association of Ontario Road Supervisors (AORS) 25th annual Provincial Safety Truck Roadeo at the Harry Lumley Bayshore Community Centre in Owen Sound, Wednesday, September 12th. The Grey County Public Works Association is hosting the event. They have planned a fun and educational day for the contestants, their guests and dignitaries. Everyone is welcome to attend this free Municipal event. Competitor registration will be 7:30 to 8:00 am, opening remarks from 8 :00 to 8:15 am, competition, 8:15 to 3:00 pm and awards presentation from 3:00 to 3:30 pm. In baseball action, J.A. Happ tossed six shutout innings and the New York Yankees continued their mastery of the Minnesota Twins with a 7-2 win last night.
Milwaukee beat the Chicago Cubs 3-2 to pull within one game of the NL Central leaders.
A three-run homer in the eighth inning rallied St. Louis to an 8-7 victory over Pittsburgh, overcoming deficits of 4-0 and 6-4 and moving two games ahead of the Los Angeles Dodgers in the race for the second wild card spot in the NL.
NL West-leading Colorado gained more separation with a 13-2 win over Arizona.
Tampa Bay beat Cleveland 6-5 to set a team record with their 12th straight victory at home.
Atlanta beat San Francisco 4-1.
Cincinnati improved to 5-0 against the Los Angeles Dodgers this season with a 10-6 victory.
Houston edged Detroit 3-2.
Texas beat the Los Angeles Angels 5-2 to snap a four-game slide.
Kansas City got by the Chicago White Sox 4-3.
