Next week, the Municipality of Meaford and local emergency response agencies will be taking part in the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) Exercise ARDENT DEFENDER 2018.
This exercise is the largest counter-explosive threat training ever to take place in Canada. The full CAF exercise is set through October 19th, between Canadian Forces Base Borden and 4th Canadian Division Training Centre Meaford. A new element for this year’s exercise is a two-day scenario that will take place within the community of Meaford. The intent is to give municipal staff, police and first responders an opportunity to work together with the CAF in a realistic training environment. Grey County OPP have safety concerns with the actions of some people who are choosing not to follow the posted signs at Eugenia Falls, Grey Highlands. Grey Sauble Conservation has posted signs to keep visitors on the trails and within the assigned viewing areas for the falls. If you make the choice to go outside of the assigned viewing area or leave the marked trail and you are observed in this activity by police, you may be charged with engage in prohibited activity on premises under the Trespass to Property Act. In baseball action, a two-out single in the 10th inning allowed the Milwaukee Brewers to bounce back to beat the Colorado Rockies 3-2 to open their NL Division Series last night.
An early, three-run homer saw the Los Angeles Dodgers beat the Atlanta Braves 6-0 in their NL Division Series opener.

In the NHL, the Chicago Blackhawks spoiled the Ottawa Senators’ home opener with a 4-3 win.
And Winnipeg downed St. Louis 5-1.
The Leafs are back in action Saturday night as they host Ottawa.

Today, in baseball, afternoon games see Cleveland at Houston (2:05 pm) and Colorado travels to Milwaukee (4:15 pm), while tonight, the New York Yankees are at Boston (7:32 pm) and the LA Dodgers are at home to Atlanta ((9:37 pm)
