On March 15, at approximately 6:00 p.m., Grey County OPP stopped a vehicle on Toronto Rd., Flesherton, in the Municipality of Grey Highlands, after the driver was observed using a cell phone. Further investigation revealed that the driver of the 2003 Nissan Pathfinder had been suspended from driving since 1991. A 46-year old man from New Tecumseth was charged with driving using a handheld communication device and driving while suspended. He is scheduled to appear in court in Owen Sound on April 13th. In the NHL, the Montreal Canadiens defeated the visiting Ottawa Senators 4-1 yesterday. The Canadiens now lead the Atlantic Division by four points over the Senators.
Elsewhere, Winnipeg edged Minnesota 5-4, Sidney Crosby got his 10th career hat trick Sunday, as Pittsburgh shut-out Florida 4-0 and Chicago rallied past Colorado’s two-goal lead to win 6-3 for their fifth straight win.
And, finally, Philadelphia edged Carolina 4-3, Columbus clinched their third playoff berth in franchise history with a 4-1 victory over New Jersey and Calgary downed Los Angeles 5-2.
