The Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program (OYAP) is pleased to announce that the 15th Annual Regional Technological Skills Challenge will take place,Friday, March 22, 2019 at Georgian College, Owen Sound Campus, and Owen Sound District Secondary School. Touted as the premier local skilled trades event of the year, secondary students in trades related programs will have an opportunity to put their skills into action in front of local industry judges. Competitors in the following categories will be tested according to industry standards: Automotive, Carpentry – Team of Two, Culinary, Electrical Wiring, Hairstyling, Precision Machining, Small Powered Equipment, and Welding. Top scoring students will advance to the Skills Ontario Qualifying Competitions in Barrie, April 6th, while others will compete at the Skills Ontario Competition in Toronto from May 6th to 8th.

The Collingwood Skating Club Presents the 68th Annual Carnival “Cirque du Patinage” with Guest Skater Roman Sadovsky. The annual Carnival takes place on Saturday, March 30th at the Eddie Bush Memorial Arena starting at 1:00 pm and promises to be the Greatest Show On Ice! This event showcases the amazing talent at the club and features skating performances by children of all ages. This year the club is very lucky to have Roman Sadovsky as the guest skater at the event. Roman has represented Canada at three World Junior Championships and has won two gold medals on the ISU Junior Grand Prix series. Tickets are required for admission and are available for purchase every Tuesday from 5:00 – 6:30 at the Eddie Bush Arena or at the door. General Admission is $10, tickets for children over 3 are $5, children 3 and under can attend free of charge.
