As one of the fifty Ontario wide municipalities who experienced a system’s error during open voting for the 2018 Municipal election, the Municipality of Meaford will receive a 20% discount from the service provider, Dominion Voting Systems. October 22nd, during the last hours of voting, voters experienced log-in disruptions, preventing them from casting ballots. The Toronto based electoral system provider experienced an unapproved bandwidth limit from their internet provider, resulting in the Municipality of Meaford extending voting by one day. Clerk/Director of Legislative and Protective Services, Matt Smith says the Municipality is set to receive a negotiated return of $3,400 from the overall $17,000 cost for using Dominion Voting Systems as our the ballot and voting method. January 10th at about 8:50 am, Grey County OPP were called for a four year old female who had been injured in an incident involving a school bus in front of St Vincent-Euphrasia Elementary School in Meaford. The involved child had departed from the school bus, she fell off balance and stepped in front of the bus as it pulled away. The involved child was transported to hospital with a leg injury.
