The Friends of the Meaford Library announce that the Fundraising Committee for the new library facility is now complete. January 29th, the Council of the Municipality of Meaford passed a by-law confirming the following as members of the committee: Peter Bantock, Elaine Burns, Theresa Elliott, Nadia Ellis, Kim Grafton, and Jane Leckenby. The first meeting of the Fundraising Committee will be on Tuesday, February 13th at 4 pm in the Meaford Public Library board room. The meeting is open to the public and anyone who is interested in hearing about the group’s activities is encouraged to attend. To date, $150,560 has been raised to support the new library facility at 11 Sykes Street North, including a $50,000 contribution from the Friends of the Meaford Library. Information on the new library is available at: www.meaford.ca/newlibrary. Donations can be made to the Friends of the Meaford Library at that website or at the library. Fundraising work has already begun with the Rotary Club of Meaford for its annual Rotary Trivia Night on Friday, October 19th. 365 Sports the parent company of 5K Foam Fest Canada has teamed up with Make-A-Wish® Canada as its official charitable partner for the Canadian 5K Foam Fest tour in 2018. Make-A-Wish® creates life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses. The two companies will be working together through the 2018 season at the fifteen Foam Fest events scheduled throughout Canada. With a variety of obstacles and a lot of foam, the run is an exciting challenge event for experienced runners and be-ginners as fifteen Foam Fest events are scheduled to take place in cities across Canada from June through September. Make-A-Wish Canada will receive all money raised through participant fund-raising and revenue generated by the 365 Sports Gear Check at all Canadian 5K Foam Fest events. (Source: mudrunguide.com)
