Sunday August 6th, the Georgian Bay Rowing Club attended the 135th Royal Canadian Masters Henley Regatta in St Catharines. The Regatta is being held from August 6th to the 13th this year. Typically, the masters events are held on the opening Sunday while the remaining week hosts the junior and senior rowing events on the Martindale Waterway. The Georgian Bay Rowing Club represented the region well, as rowers from 45 clubs throughout Canada and the USA participated. Next up for the club are the US Nationals in Tennessee. Just after 6 p.m. on August 7th, Grey County OPP received a report of an attempted break-in to a residence located on Highpoint Crescent in Grey Highlands. The resident went to investigate after hearing a loud noise at the back door. The noise was an unknown man attempting to force his way through the door. The suspect,accompanied by a woman, fled the scene as soon as he was confronted by the homeowner. The female suspect was described as in her late 20’s to early 30’s, with dark brown hair piled on top of her head, wearing a white dress with multi-colours on it. Her back was covered in tattoos. Home brand butane portable gas range model 9000, with UPC 400063471432 and model 9001 , with UPC 400063471395 has been recalled.with the brand name “Home” and “BUTANE 9000” or “BUTANE 9001” written on the front face plate of the unit. The cooking grate for the portable gas range can be installed incorrectly, resulting in increased pressure in the unit while in use, posing an explosion and fire hazard to consumers.
