Georgian College has rescheduled its Spring Open House to April 21st, following the weekend cancellation due to weather. Prospective and future students will preview what they’ll be doing in class and program areas will offer information sessions. Attendees will also learn about full-time, part-time and online program options, take student-led tours of campuses and residences, learn about housing options, and check out clubs, activities and student services. The rescheduled open house will be Saturday, April 21st ,9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at all campuses, including Owen Sound Campus, 1450 8th St. E., Owen Sound. There will be free bus service to the campus from Collingwood and free bus service to the campus from Wasaga Beach. Lower tier municipalities throughout Grey County have joined together to offer 2 information sessions for prospective candidates and third party advertisers for the 2018 election. Tomorrow, Tuesday, April 17th, at Harry Lumley Bayshore Community Centre -Shore Room, 1900 3rd Ave East, Owen Sound, N4K 3M6, as well as Thursday, June 21, 2018 at Flesherton Kinplex, 2 Highland Drive, Flesherton, N0C 1E0. The information sessions are free and open to anyone considering running in the 2018 municipal or school board election, or registering as a Third Party Advertiser. The sessions will include: Ministry of Municipal Affairs, Staff from Grey County and Staff from each member municipality. In the NHL, Sidney Crosby had a goal and three assists and Matt Murray stopped 26 shots to help the Pittsburgh Penguins silence a raucous Philadelphia crowd and beat the Flyers 5-1 yesterday to take a 2-1 lead in the first-round playoff series. Minnesota cruised to a 6-2 victory over Winnipeg in Game 3 of their best-of-seven series. Columbus beat Washington 5-4 in Game 2 to take a 2-0 lead in their first-round playoff series and Vegas rallied to move to the brink of the expansion franchise’s first playoff series victory with a 3-2 win over Los Angeles.

Tonight, Toronto is at home to Boston (7:00 pm), Tampa Bay travels to New Jersey (7:30), Colorado hosts Nashville (10:00 pm) and Anaheim’s at San Jose (10:30 pm)

Baseball action, rain postponed a game between the Toronto Blue Jays and Cleveland Indians for a second straight day yesterday as Saturday’s game also was postponed. The teams will play a tradition-al doubleheader May 3rd, in what was an off day for both clubs. The Boston Red Sox extended the best start in their 118-year history, beating the Baltimore Orioles 3-1 yesterday at frigid Fenway Park. Tonight, the Jays are at home to Kansas City; game time 7:07.
