The Collingwood Museum invites you to the Collingwood Shipyards the 3rd annual Shipyard Social, Saturday (September 7th) between 12:00 pm and 3:00 pm on the Museum grounds to celebrate those men and women who were part of this historic legacy. The afternoon will kick-off with a community barbeque between 12:00 pm and 2:00 for a nominal fee. In preparation for a new exhibit, Collingwood Museum staff will be looking for assistance in identifying artifacts related to the iconic Collingwood sidelaunch. With some exceptions, enjoy 10% off in the Museum Gift Shop. Parking will be available at the Museum, as well as the HarbourEdge Centre at 40 Huron Street. The Town of Collingwood’s courtesy cart will be available to assist with transportation to and from the site.

The Town of The Blue Mountains would like to advise that the mobile rideshare application, Uber is now available within the Town of The Blue Mountains as the Town has received confirmation from Uber that the technical error within the software has been fixed. Residents are reminded that since Uber has not been available within the Town of The Blue Mountains, it will take time for drivers to become regularly available. Gaslight Tour is coming back next month, and right now, they’re looking for actors to bring Collingwood’s herstory to life. There are four playwrights this year, each of whom have written a play about Collingwood women in history. The tour, Oct. 24th to 27th, will visit four of the town’s historic sites to watch the stories of Collingwood’s history that go along with the year’s theme, “The Herstory of Collingwood”. 18 females and six males are required to play the roles in this year’s tour. Group auditions take place again Saturday, Sept. 7th at 10 am or 11 am at the Simcoe Street Theatre (65 Simcoe Street). To audition, arrive at the theatre for one of those time slots.

In baseball, Austin Meadows hit his 27th homer, leading the Tampa Bay Rays over the Toronto Blue Jays 6-4 last night and maintaining the Rays’ half-game lead over Oakland for the AL’s top wild card.
Oakland rallied to beat the Los Angeles Angels 10-6 to complete a three-game sweep.
A grand slam capped a five-run sixth inning and powered the Chicago Cubs to a 10-5 victory over Milwaukee in the opener of a crucial four-game series.
Atlanta moved a step closer to their second straight NL East title, beating Washington 4-2 in the opener of a four-game series between the division’s top two teams.
Cincinnati beat Philadelphia 4-3 to drop the Phillies 3 1/2 games behind the Chicago Cubs for the NL’s second wild card.
Toronto is at Tampa Bay again. Game time 7:10.
In tennis, Canadian teenager Bianca Andreescu has reached the final in her U.S. Open debut by beating No. 13 seed Belinda Bencic of Switzerland 7-6 (3), Andreescu plays Serena Williams Saturday.
