Wasaga Beach was at the mercy of Mother Nature as the high water levels flood the popular shoreline, Wednesday with waves rushing over Beach Area 1 and Beach Drive, resulting in area’s closure due to the localized flooding and requiring access to the area on foot by parking in the Playland Park Lot at 40 Mosley Street.

A portion of River Road East, Wasaga Beach is closed between Main Street and Beck Street to permit contractor staging for the Main Street Bridge Rehabilitation Project.

There is a temporary road closure on Sixth Street from Spruce Street to Walnut Street, Collingwood today (Thursday, September 5th) from 7:00 am to 4:00 pm due to tree removal. Signage will be in place.

Members of the OPP Marine Unit attached to the Southern Georgian Bay detachment of the OPP provided 23 hours of active marine patrol time on the waters of Georgian Bay and between Locks 44 and 45 of the Trent Severn System, August 30th to Sept. 2nd. OPP marine officers checked 31 vessels and operators for proper vessel equipment and sobriety while patrolling the waters of Georgian Bay and responded to 15 calls for marine related service from the public.

Seeley and Arnill Construction is expected to conclude a large culvert replacement on Sideroad 21, Meaford between Concession A & 28th Ave East today (Thursday, September 5th). This road section will be closed from 8:30 am to 7:00 pm. Local traffic and school bus access will be provided. Emergency Services have been notified.

In tennis, 19-year-old Mississauga’s Bianca Andreescu’s, posted yet another comeback victory at the U.S. Open, beating No. 25 seed Elise Mertens of Belgium 3-6, 6-2, 6-3 yesterday.
Belinda Bencic wore down Donna Vekic and advanced to her first Grand Slam semifinal with a 7-6 (5), 6-3 victory.
Ottawa native Gabriela Dabrowski has been eliminated in the women’s doubles quarterfinals at the U.S. Open as she and partner Yifan Xu of China, seeded third, lost 2-6, 6-3, 6-3 to the unseeded team of Aliaksandra Sasnovich of Belarus and Viktoria Kuzmova of Slovakia.
