Members of Southern Georgian Bay detachment of the OPP remind all motorists that the 2019/2020 school year starts today and that means school buses are rolling out once again to pick up and drop off students throughout our communities. Remember, drivers, to slow down in school zones and respect the posted speed limit and the fine for passing a school bus with its lights activated is $490 minimum and six demerit points. Each following offence is $1,000 to $4,000, six demerit points and possible jail time (up to six months) If you have information about drivers not following the Highway Traffic Act and school buses on the road, contact the OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).

Seeley and Arnill Construction will be performing a large culvert replacement on Sideroad 21, Meaford between Concession A & 28th Ave East, from today (Tuesday, September 3rd) to Thursday, September 5th. This road section will be closed daily from 8:30 am to 7:00 pm. Local traffic and school bus access will be provided. Emergency Services have been notified.

Battery Collection in Town of the Blue Mountains begins this week (September 3rd) until September 27th. For Curbside Collection, place batteries in battery bag (or clear resealable bag) and place on top of your blue box on your day of collection, from September 3rd to September 27th. For condos, place batteries in the same type of bag, then inside the designated pail in a central waste area, from September 3rd to September 27th.

In the CFL, the Hamilton Tiger-Cats rallied for a 38-27 Labour Day win over the Toronto Argonauts, Monday while the Calgary Stampeders downed the visiting Edmonton Eskimos 25-9.
