Bluewater District School Board is excited to begin construction of the new Junior Kindergarten to Grade 12 school build in Meaford. Minister of Education Stephen Lecce joined local dignitaries, trustees, board staff, contractors, the media, and other supporters for a ground breaking ceremony at the build site next to St. Vincent-Euphrasia Elementary School, Friday, September 27th. The ground breaking follows recent approval by the Ministry of Education to proceed with the build. Ministry funding for the project will include 1,033 student spaces and one EarlyON Child and Family Centre room. The build will be designed to meet future enrolment expectations in the Meaford area, and will combine students from Georgian Bay Community and St. Vincent-Euphrasia Elementary Schools.

Metro Ontario Inc. is recalling Metro brand deli trays from the marketplace due to possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination. Consumers should not consume the recalled large and small Snack Delights products, Fresh 2 Go Snack and Grab Party Tray or Fresh 2 Go Premium Kolbassa Sausage-Cheese Tray

Food contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes may not look or smell spoiled but can still cause sickness. Pregnant women may experience only mild, flu-like symptoms and the infection can lead to premature delivery, infection of the newborn or even stillbirth. Severe cases may be fatal. As yet, there have been no reported illnesses associated with the consumption of these products.

In baseball, Justin Smoak hit a pair of doubles and drove in three runs in what was likely his final game as a Blue Jay, and Toronto ended its season with a 8-3 win over the Tampa Bay Rays yesterday.
St. Louis clinched the NL Central on the final day of the regular season, to win their first division title since 2015 with a 9-0 victory over the Chicago Cubs.
Seattle closed out the season with a 3-1 win over playoff-bound Oakland.
Texas closed out the 26th and final season at their ballpark with a 6-1 win over the AL East champion New Yankees
Washington continued their surge into the playoffs by stretching their winning streak to a year-high eight games with an 8-2 victory over eliminated Cleveland in a regular-season finale that meant nothing to either club.
The Chicago White Sox earned a season-ending 5-3 win over the worst-in-the-majors Detroit.
Milwaukee is at Washington, Tuesday night.

In the CFL, the Saskatchewan Roughriders clinched a CFL playoff berth with a convincing 41-16 win over the Toronto Argonauts on Saturday night.
The B.C. Lions kept their faint playoff hopes alive on Saturday, posting a gritty 25-23 win over the Montreal Alouettes.
The Edmonton Eskimos snapped a four-game losing streak with a 21-16 win over the Ottawa Redblacks

In the NHL, Winnipeg beat Minnesota 5-4.
Tonight, Ottawa is at Toronto (7:00 pm) and Vancouver is on the road to Edmonton (10:00 pm).
