A little rain didn’t dampen the spirits of runners, walkers, strollers, and cyclers who participated in this year’s Terry Fox Run. The Collingwood event took place at Harbourview Park Sunday at 10 am. At latest count, the event had brought in $35,000 for the Terry Fox Foundation. The local event has raised more than $250,000 through the annual runs since they began.

Sept. 11th at about noon, members of the Huronia West Detachment of the OPP responded to a 911 call for a robbery at EB Games in Wasaga Beach. Police are looking for an unknown male described as dark skin, about 5’10” to 6′ in his late teens to early 20’s, slender build, wearing a long-sleeved grey shirt, ripped jeans and white shoes dark ball cap with white logo who was last seen exiting the front door of the store into the parking lot across from the Wasaga Beach Dollar Tree carrying several large white bags filled with several gaming systems. Tim Hortons Smile Cookie Campaign is back supporting charities in communities across the country, including The Georgian Triangle Humane Society and The Collingwood General & Marine Hospital Foundation in Collingwood. For one week, from Sept. 16 – 22, restaurant owners donate the full $1 from every freshly baked chocolate chunk Smile Cookie purchased to support charities in their community. Guests can complete a form to place pre-orders for Smile Cookies through their restaurant in Collingwood. This year, Tim Hortons restaurants in Collingwood are supporting the Georgian Triangle Humane Society and the Collingwood General & Marine Hospital Foundation. The Sunnidale Corners restaurant will be supporting the Georgian Triangle Humane Society.

In baseball, Randal Grichuk snapped a tie with a three-run blast in the fifth inning for his second homer of the game to give the Toronto Blue Jays a 6-4 win over the New York Yankees yesterday.
The Los Angeles Dodgers damaged the New York Mets’ dwindling wild-card chances with a 3-2 win.
Cleveland salvaged the finale of their AL Central showdown series with a 7-5 win over big-swinging Minnesota who tied a major league home run record.
Milwaukee beat St. Louis 7-6 to keep up their playoff push by winning for the ninth time in 10 games.
Washington prevented a three-game sweep, beating NL East-leading Atlanta 7-0.
Toronto is next in action Tuesday night in Baltimore.

In the CFL, a blocked 42-yard field goal attempt with 32 seconds left in the game preserved a 19-18 win for the Calgary Stampeders over the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, Saturday afternoon.
A 39-yard field goal with 25 seconds remaining, lifted the Saskatchewan Roughriders to a 27-25 victory over the Montreal Alouettes, Saturday.
Friday, the B.C. Lions won 29-5 over the Ottawa Redblacks, the Lions’ first at home win this season, snapping a seven-game losing skid for B.C.

Toronto F-C Jonathan Osorio’s 70th-minute goal gave Toronto F-C a 3-2 win over the Colorado Rapids at BMO Field. The win extended Toronto’s undefeated streak to nine games in all competitions. Its last loss was August 3rd when it was beaten 2-0 by the New York Red Bulls.
