An employee at a Collingwood group home was the victim of racist graffiti after someone spray-painted a racist slur on the garage door where she works. Sonia Johnson who commutes from Toronto to Collingwood around 7 am was told of the graffiti by a resident coming back from Tim Hortons who noticed it on the garage door. Collingwood/The Blue Mountains OPP are investigating.

The Municipality of Meaford is looking for three volunteers to join the Meaford Business Improvement Area Board. Applicants must be owners or tenants of a commercial property within the BIA. Applications are available online at or can be picked up at the Municipal office at 21 Trowbridge Street West. The deadline for applications is September 30th at 4:00 pm. During County of Simcoe’s committee of the whole meeting, Tuesday, a letter was put forward for information signed by Wasaga Beach chief administrative officer George Vadeboncoeur and sent to Premier Doug Ford, outlining steps the municipality is demanding the provincial government take if they choose to force amalgamation as one of the outcomes of the regional governance review, that the province hold a local referendum letting the citizens decide and that the province conduct an evidence-based study to show that amalgamation actually saves costs, jobs, lowers taxes and reduce the provincial deficit. Construction at the front of Cameron Street Public School, Collingwood is scheduled to begin today (Thursday, September 12th ). Contractors will be removing the kindergarten yard and front fence to create a safe drop-off zone. As a result, the parking and sidewalk on Cameron Street east of the bus entrance will be temporarily inaccessible. The Town of Collingwood will be moving the crosswalk to the intersection of Cameron Street and Maple Street. Families are encouraged to cross using this crosswalk and then proceed to the school-yard entrance. For those who need to park a car, please do so on Maple Street, and then make use of the crosswalk.

Toronto F-C is unbeaten in eight matches in all competitions after going on the road and earning a 1-1 draw with New York City F-C. Alejandro Pozuelo scored in the 40th minute on a penalty kick for Toronto. T-F-C has climbed all the way to fourth in the East after sitting outside a playoff spot
most of the M-L-S season.
