A new building to be erected in the Collingwood downtown core received initial approvals at council Monday night. Council voted to authorize the execution of the site plan control agreement with Mon Desir Inc. for the development of The Regent at 84 Hurontario Street, as well as directing staff to prepare a report outlining opportunities for the town to fill empty apartments and vacant spaces in existing downtown spaces. The plans for the three storey building also include 13 underground parking spots and an interior courtyard.

The dedicated Accessible Parking Space at Meaford Museum is temporarily unavailable until about April 2020. An alternate accessible parking space has been created (located to the north of the current space).

The City of Owen Sound has hired Voyago to provide twice-daily bus service to Guelph from January 2020 to March 31, 2023. The city’s 39-month contract with Voyago will cost $1.02 million, plus about $207,000 in fuel costs. Owen Sound will be receiving $1.24 million from the Ministry of Transportation’s Community Transportation Grant Program to fund the service.

In the NHL, Alex Ovechkin scored his second goal of the game as part of a four-point night while on the power play in overtime as the Washington Capitals defeated the Toronto Maple Leafs 4-3 last night.
