Prosecutors in the Dominican Republic say a second person has been arrested in the shooting of Boston Red Sox legend David Ortiz. The retired slugger was shot in the back Sunday night while at a bar in his native Santo Domingo.
It isn’t known if the new arrest is the suspected shooter — the passenger who jumped off a motorcycle to fire the shot. Ortiz remains in a Boston hospital following a second surgery as investigators work to figure out what motivated the apparent attempted murder. A spokesman said yesterday that Ortiz is expected to stay in intensive care for at least 48 hours.
