A new pre-apprenticeship program at Georgian College’s Owen Sound Campus will help train more skilled trades workers and fill the many tradespeople job openings across the Grey-Bruce community. This 34-week program, includes twenty-two weeks of in-school training beginning April 27th, 2020, followed by a 12-week paid work placement that ends December 18th, 2020 and provides a hands-on introduction to the construction and maintenance electrician trade, along with welding and includes academic upgrading to prepare students for apprenticeship-level math, communications and science. Bill Walker, MPP for Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound and Associate Minister of Energy, was on campus Friday to make the announcement. County of Simcoe Paramedic Services 17th annual Toy Drive so far collected at least 472 toys, 619 lbs of food and more than $700 in cash and gift cards. The Toy Drive benefits local children and families during the holiday season. Donations of new, unwrapped toys will be accepted at various locations and parades across Simcoe County until Dec. 13th. Owen Sound auxiliary police were hard at work Saturday at Food Basic collecting food for their annual Food Drive for the Salvation Army and will be at Zehrs this coming Saturday.

In the NHL, three games last night as the Boston Bruins won their seventh straight game, beating the Montreal Canadiens 3-1 as the Habs extended their season-high winless to eight.
A power play goal with under three minutes remaining, forced overtime and Minnesota beat Dallas 3-2, lifting the Wild to their third straight victory.
Edmonton edged Vancouver 3-2.
Tonight, five games with no Canadian teams playing as New Jersey is at Buffalo, the New York Rangers host Vegas (7:00 pm), the New York Islanders are at Detroit (7:30 pm), St. Louis is at Chicago (9:30 pm) and Los Angeles is at Anaheim (10:00 pm)
In the NBA, the Toronto Raptors crushed the Utah Jazz 130-110 last night.
The Raptors play next Tuesday next at home to the Miami Heat.
And locally, the Meaford Knights lost 10-0 Saturday night to the Bradford Rattlers and suffered an overtime loss, 4-3, Sunday afternoon to the Bancroft Rockhounds.
The Knights are on home ice again Thursday night, against the South Muskoka Shield.
