Battery Collection in Town of the Blue Mountains begins the week of September 3rd until September 27th. For Curbside Collection, place batteries in battery bag (or clear resealable bag) and place on top of your blue box on your day of collection, from September 3, 2019 to September 27th. For condos, place batteries in the same type of bag, then inside the designated pail in central waste area, from September 3rd to September 27th.

On this last long weekend of the summer, the OPP will be out once again,to ensure your travels both on our roadways and waterways are safe during this time. From today (Friday, Aug. 30th) to Monday, Sept. 2nd, the OPP will be out not only in identifiable cruisers, but on foot, on bicycles, on ATVs and in the water in marine units. On land, the OPP will be looking for the Big Four collision causal agents; distracted driving, impaired operation, aggressive driving and seat belt compliance. On the water, the OPP will be looking for impaired operation, that the vessel has the required safety equipment on board and that the operator obeys the specific marine legislation. To aid in this policy there will be an increased Police presence in the high vehicle and pedestrian traffic areas of Wasaga Beach.

Taylor Townsend pulled off the biggest victory over her career at the U.S. Open, surprising former No. 1 and two-time major champion Simona Halep.
Defending champion Naomi Osaka stormed to a 6-2, 6-4 victory over Magda Linette to advance to the US Open third round.
No. 6 seed Alexander Zverev was taken to a deciding set for a second successive match as he saw off Frances Tiafoe 6-3, 3-6, 6-2, 2-6, 6-3 in the US Open second round.
