Four People Recovering In Hospital After A House Fire In Tay Township

Last night, just before 11 pm, Southern Georgian Bay OPP, the Tay Fire and Emergency Services and Simcoe Paramedic Services responded to a report of a structure fire at a home on Neilsen Road in Tay Township.

Crews encountered a fully engulfed structure fire with reports of people trapped inside. Firefighters were able to gain entry to the home where they were able to locate and remove a mother and a seven year old child.

Four people were transported to hospital with varying degrees of injury that are believed to be related directly to the fire. A 44-year-old female victim and the two males aged 11 and 7 have sustained serious injuries, while a 17-year old male has sustained life threatening injuries. All four have since been transported to Toronto area trauma centres.

The Office of the Fire Marshal has been contacted and will be attending the scene today to conduct an investigation into the cause of this fire.
