Driver Charged For Going 138 Km/h In A Posted 80 Km/h Zone

On November 12, 2017 at approximately 2 p.m., a Huronia West OPP officer on patrol observed a motor vehicle headed east on Hwy #26 at a high rate of speed. The officer’s radar gun showed that the car was travelling at 138 km/h; well above the posted limit of 80 Km/h.

The vehicle was stopped and a further Police investigation of the operator and the vehicle revealed he was operating it while under the influence of alcohol, in addition he was found to be in possession of a quantity of marijuana, cocaine and an open container of alcohol.

As a result, the 38 year old driver from Scarborough was charged with possession of marijuana, possession of cocaine, failure or refusal to provide a sample, stunt driving and having liquor in open container. He is scheduled to appear in court in Collingwood on November 28, 2017.
