Could your next package be delivered from a drone?
That’s not out of the question according to Canada post, who is said to be quietly exploring the idea of using small unmanned aerial vehicles to make deliveries.
Canada Post spokesman Jon Hamilton, says “In the post office’s 250-year history, the manner of getting letters and parcels to Canadians has evolved from a couple of horses to trains, trucks and planes — so it makes sense to eye lightweight, remote-controlled aircraft”.
Canada Post declined to release documents through the Access to Information Act about its interest in drones, saying the information is sensitive.
Amazon meanwhile says its Prime Air service will, in the future, deliver packages under 5 pounds, in 30 minutes or less using small drones.
